The Meenameen forest offers a great angling experience even in harsh weather conditions when other waters may not be fishable. This lough is an excellent fishing spot on days when it's not possible to cast elsewhere. However, when visiting this place, please be mindful of ongoing forestry operations on the access roads and adjacent lands.

The presence of Zebra Mussels is still preventing the stocking of fish from Movanagher Fish Farm. For more information, please visit Zebra Mussels and impact on fish stocking in the Public Angling Estate.
