This is a wild salmon and brown trout fishery. The river also has dollaghan up to 2.25kg. Dollaghan offer excellent sport and in low water they are prevalent at night. This river varies greatly over its comparatively short length, with interesting pools and runs available for both fly and worm fishing. Maine Angling Club manages this sectionof the river for the Department. There are 10 free day tickets available to holders of DAERA game season permits. This extends (with a few exceptions) to about 6.5km of fishing from both banks of the river from Hillmount Weir upstream to a point around two miles above Dunminning Bridge. Daily permits (except Sunday) are available from: The Bridge Garage 4 Dreen Road Cullybackey, phone: 028 2588 0278. The day permit distributor is normally closed on bank and public holidays but opens until 10.00 am to sell permits to visiting anglers.
